17/05-27/06 : Juliana

During the 47 days I volunteered at CIRCE, I had the opportunity to upgrade my whale-watch abilities, to achieve greater knowledge about the cetaceans that inhabit the Mediterranean Sea, and it was also the first time I used a theodolite. The volunteer program gave me the opportunity to go to fantastic places such as the Parque de La Breña, Parque Natural Los Alcornocales, Castellar de La Frontera, Tarifa and the Centro de Ornitología.

I also had the privilege to sail through the Gibraltar Strait, to see common dolphins, sperm whales and the mola mola fish, all from a close distance, I observed the region’s migratory birds, got to know the Roman ruins and I worked everyday facing glorious “Mama Africa!”.

However, the volunteer program was much more than just monitoring and visiting beautiful sites. To me, above all, the most important were the people I knew (volunteers and others) and the good and bad experiences I’ve been through. I’ve met some people that caused me some trouble; nevertheless I learned a lot from them, after all the bad things in Life only happen for us to become stronger and better persons. At the same time I met wonderful people, with whom I shared laughs, musics, capoeira, kombuchas, teas, tortillas and good energy!! They will always have a place in my Heart!! :D

Last but not least, I give thanks to all the people that believed my work and allowed me to live such intense experiences! And for all of you: Positive Vibrations, for the road is long and we got to keep on moving, since “tudo na vida vale a pena, quando a alma não é pequena” (Fernando Pessoa)
